Draft proposal of a module burn-in procedure (very preliminary) =============================================================== V. Zhukov, W. Beaumont, P. Vanlaer Quick functionnality test before putting in cold box ---------------------------------------------------- Purpose: - useful if there is a risk of damage to the module between the last functionnality test and the installation in the cold box, AND if the installation in the cold box is delicate and time consuming. Otherwise an initial functionnality test after installation in the cold box is sufficient. Consists: - quick check of hybrid functionnality: - apply LV to module; - take pedestals, rms noise, calibration 1 MIP for 1 standard Pipeline cell location. - quick check for module HV isolation (bulk + pinholes): - apply ~10 V, then ramp up to nominal voltage in 10 minutes; - total current below limit. In case of failure of one of these checks, the module goes to separate diagnosis / repair line. Installation in cold box ------------------------ Insertion of modules on mechanical supports and thermal contact pieces. Connexion of LV / HV / readout cables, no power applied to any element. Flushing with N2 until humidity below given value (30% ?). Quick functionnality test after putting in cold box --------------------------------------------------- Purpose: - obtain initial values of pedestals, noise rms, cal response to be used as a reference through the tests. Optional (but could be done on samples and at the beginning of production): - gain uniformity with source. Tests during temperature cycling ------------------------------- Purpose: - force failure of weak element(s): sensor, hybrid, mechanics and detect it Principle: - monitor and archive relevant parameters: - leakage current - sensor temperature - pedestal, noise and cal - ... - In case one of the parameters goes out of specifications: - automatically stop run, switch off LV and HV, switch off cooling; - send warning signal. Archived data allow tracing of what happened and when. Room temperature: - ramp Vbias up to 1.5? times nominal voltage for 10 minutes - ramp down to nominal Vbias, stay for 1 hour Cool down to 0 C; stay for 1 hour Cool down to -20 C; stay for 12 hours Switch off cooling, restart cycle.
