Short Summary of the Modules Test Working Group Cern July 12, 2000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Agenda Introduction Marco Meschini 20' Module burn in test (Brussels + Antwerpen) Wim Beaumont 20' Status report on Lyon PC based test system Laurent Mirabito 20' State of thinking about the burn-in station and procedures (Strasbourg) JM Helleboid 10' 11:00 - Discussion on draft document: tests needed, procedures. 12:00 - The Lyon system on the bench: a guided tour by Laurent Mirabito (at the the tracking lab) Continue discussion on draft document: setup, work sharing. A.O.B. In addition to the above points: A. Cattai presented a flow chart concerning quality assurance issues (global aspects, not only module test); U. Goerlach, connected through VRVS, illustrated his FE-Hybrid qualification strategy. (unfortunately the quality of audio connection was really bad. Goerlach will add some written comments to his transparencies.) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After some discussion on what was presented, and on the draft prepared by Marco on Module Testing, we agreed to go further and write in more detail the specifications that hybrids and module must satisfy and the tests we want to perform to qualify them. We should indicate also when and where the tests have to be done and possibly repeated. We are aware that there is a huge amount of work to be done and this will require contribution by many people. We have to proceed writing a second version of the draft "Qualification Procedures for the CMS Silicon Microstrip Modules", following the guidelines emerged during the meeting. We decided to share the work according to the following list of items and responsible persons: Hybrid testing: U. Goerlach + A. Honma (they were not present, but they were indicated by many of us as already deeply involved and possibly helpful) Module testing before and after bonding: L. De Maria Module burn in: P. Van Laer System testing: A. Marchioro + R. Malina + D. Abbaneo Definition of hardware setup for tests: W. Beaumont Definition of standard software tools to make results directly comparable and data logging to the detector database: L. Mirabito + S. Perries + R. Malina Quality assurance control: A. Cattai People are encouraged to get in contact with the responsible persons and give their (written) contribution. The responsible persons of each subgroup are in charge of writing the corresponding section of the document WITHIN JULY 20 (one week from now!) and sending it to me at meschini@fi.infn.it To simplify the editing and to reduce the size of mails, I propose to use Latex2e template for CMS notes from http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/documents/docformat/info.html#templates and send around only the .tex files.
